The Gnomish Hobbler: More Nuisance Monsters

The Gnomish Hobbler is not the most elegant work of gnomish artificers, but it’s may be their most hated. Little more than a bear trap equipped with tremorsense and a simple means of locomotion, they are deployed to immobilize intruders. They are incapable of discerning friend from foe, and so are rarely used in situations where they could injure their makers. Because of this, consider deploying them in a location where ranged attacks can be brought to bear on their victims, or where they can slow their victims down and make them vulnerable to other hazards is ideal.

Later, I’ll be using some of these to complicate the lives of the adventurers live in the next installment of the Everdown modules. I’ll post the video when it happens. Depending on how that goes, I may make some revisions. Thanks again to Tetracube for their D&D 5e stat block generator.

The attached Gnomish Hobbler moves with the target wherever the target moves, requiring none of the Gnomish Hobbler’s movement. While the Hobbler is attached, the target’s movement speed is reduced by half, and the target takes 5 (1d10) piercing damage when the move more than 5 feet in a turn. A creature, including the target, can remove the Hobbler with a DC 10 strength check.
